La Machine

I was in Liverpool yesterday working for a client. On the way back through the city centre last night I photographed a giant spider climbing up the side of a building near Lime Street Station. The creature was part of 'La Machine', a street theatre performance taking place as part of the city's Capital of Culture celebrations.

The very spectacular Notting Hill Carnival

I went to my first Notting Hill Carnival to grab some images for local magazines and websites today. What an experience, everybody was having such a good time. There were people from all over the world enjoying the spectacular parade. I have many colourful images from the day, if you are interested in obtaining any for publication then do get in touch via the contact information. (Just popping out now to buy a pair of ear plugs ready for next year's carnival!)

Vinyl Bar Shoot

I was asked to get some images of Vinyl Bar. Vinyl is the basement bar of Pistachio Restaurant, a music venue with an edge nestled in the bohemian surroundings of Lark Lane. It is home to regular slots of live entertainment from jam nights to solo artists to Funk, Soul and Jazz DJ nights. I quite like the results, look out for them in the local press and media.

Tall Ships 2008 photographs

As one of my final assignments as a resident of Liverpool before the move to London, I went to photograph The
Tall Ships Race Festival today which has come to a close with a spectacular parade along the River Mersey. The 60 rigged ships are set to embark on a five-week race, the first leg of which leaves from Northern Ireland on Wednesday bound for Norway.

Brooklyn Bridge

video
This is a small personal project I'm working on at the moment. During my recent trip to New York I took a walk across the famous Brooklyn Bridge on the day of its 125th Birthday. I took pictures throughout and recorded the whole walk on my 4 track recording device. Here's a sneak preview of how it is getting on.

Shoot for Riverside at the Tate Gallery, Liverpool

This evening I was asked to do a corporate shoot for Riverside Housing who were celebrating their 80th Birthday during Liverpool's very own celebrations as the Capital of Culture 08. Here's a picture of Mike Storey (Liverpool City Council's Executive Member for Regeneration) who was boarding one of Liverpool's famous Duck Tours.

Riverside Housing

A couple of examples of the type of work I have been doing for Riverside Housing's awards ceremony. I travelled all over the country gathering images from as far north as Carlisle and as far south as Shepton Mallet. I took over a week to finish the project, which is being held at the new Liverpool Echo Arena.

Schools Freelance Photography Service

My guess is that you are reading this because of the image above and I'm sure when you saw it you had a positive reaction to it!

This picture came from a batch taken during a ‘European Day’ I was at the school for only an hour, and over the course of a year, the school has used the picture on their website, in a newsletter, on a poster, in the local paper and in some of their advertising. It cost them less than £70! and as well as this image they received a whole disc of images royalty free, to use however they wish. Imagine the little girl’s parents delight at being presented with a copy by the school!

Think of the power a single photograph can have on your parents or, better still, prospective parents. One picture can grab a person’s attention and draw them into your school’s newsletter or website, those such as the one above really are worth a thousand words. It's very clear that the child is having a great time in a safe environment and that she is enjoying learning. The picture says it all, making it perfect for school publications.

I have over ten years experience of working within school environments and capturing the unique personality of schools. If you are after just one ‘cracking’ picture to accompany a press release or a three day shoot to illustrate your new website, then please have a look through the ‘Schools Portfolio’ and give me a call to have a chat about your needs.
